I love writing. I love working for myself. I love running TinyButMighty. But there’s only so much we can do on our own and I’m not a solitary animal.

That’s why I’ve picked up a job working in a local pub a few evenings a week. Sure, the money’s a nice addition to the wedding fund, but for me it’s about getting face-to-face with real people again.

I’m hoping that getting out of the house, meeting new and different people every night and doing some good, honest-to-God hard graft will help elevate my motivation, my physical and mental well-being and, most importantly, my writing. By experiencing new things and new people, I’m allowing myself to be open to new ideas, new characters and new stories.

Sometimes the best thing a writer and filmmaker can do is get out from behind their screen and make a conscious effort to connect with what’s going on in the world around them.
